Mountain Gorilla Trek - Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

There are very few words that can describe our experience, trekking to see the mountain gorillas and then being in their presence for an hour.  It was misty on the walk up through potato fields and eventually the jungle, as we walked into the National Park.

To see these creatures, so like us, play together, groom one another and take care of one another - It was overwhelming, humbling and I am so grateful to have had the experience.  While the number of mtn. gorillas have slowly been expanding in this park (they have about 400 of them now), these magnificent creatures are being killed in the Congo and other parts of Africa.  To help save these animals before they become extinct, please consider supporting the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, a nonprofit dedicated in her name, which provides funding for the Park and for education: https://gorillafund.org/
