The Hunt for Art Deco in Casablanca...

Mention the name 'Casablanca' to nearly anyone and the word will conjure whimsical, romantic and magical images of a glittering ocean, white-washed houses, palm trees swaying in the breeze, Humphrey Bogart, etc.  Actually visit this city and instead encounter relentless horn-honking from all the impatient and reckless drivers, dirty streets cluttered with litter and largely gray buildings that haven't been cleaned in decades.  However, under all that grime and soot, you can discover some architectural gems of art deco design.  I created a self-guided tour of the central downtown area with a little help from Google and several Moroccan blogs.  Here are some of my favorite buildings and interiors from my walk:
