Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon

You can see the Shwedagon Pagoda from all over this huge city as the golden umbrella at the top of the pagoda pokes out above buildings and is completely lit up at night.  It would take hours to explore all the nooks and crannies of this complex, but here are some of the highlights - Buddha statues, golden towers, thousands of people, marble and tiled floors, fresh flowers given as offerings and dozens of glass boxes filled with cash from visitors.

A nun praying in front of a Buddha statue:

Buddhists believe that the day of the week you were born is important to who you are - I was born on a Sunday and this is the Sunday animal, a mythical bird called the Garuda.  To check out your animal: http://www.whats-your-sign.com/burmese-zodiac-animal-signs.html
