Everyday Life in Malawi...

Here are some shots from the countryside and a small town in Malawi.  There are hundreds of these little stands along the roadside with small farmers selling everything from tomatoes to pineapples to bananas.

As with most of the countries so far, Malawi's economy is largely based on agriculture, tourism and mining, with a heavy emphasis on farming.  However, we never saw a tractor or mechanical farming equipment.  Most farming is done by hand, with a wooden handle hoe.  Back breaking work, but for those with a little more money, they use a wooden plow pulled by two oxen.
