Visit to Local Tribe and Cave Art

Part of our visit to Matobo National Park included a short hike to see cave art created by the San tribe nomads from thousands of years ago (Nswatugi Cave).  Absolutely amazing and then we finished the hike to the top of a lookout vantage point.

We ended the day with a visit to a local tribe and their chieftain.  He was 83 years old, didn't speak any English and was full of life and vitality.  He told us the story of how he had become chief and how he had fought a leopard in his youth, leading to a very long hospital visit.  But he said he, "had no choice.  The leopard was eating his goats and attacking his people."  He then invited us to wear his treasured leopard cape and hoist his shield.
